Hello everybody, for our campaign our theme was to capitalise on the word "Mental" and it's double meaning. One meaning as represented in iSurv1vor is to be the thinkers, be logical within our mindset and approach. The other is represented by the word's usage in a social setting - "You've gone absolutely mental" for example is often used as another word for "crazy" or "insane". So myself and Izzy tried to highlight both meaning in our photos and video.
The media portions all show this theme. In our cover photo on the Facebook page, it was an idea conceived by Izzy about "Doctor Jekyll & Mr Hyde" with the words "Follow us" in one font and "Or else..." in a more grittier font. The use of different fonts was used to further support our theme for the campaign, and gives a preview of sorts to the Facebook page as a whole. Our second photo comprised of both myself and Izzy, we tasked ourselves to take two separate selfies - one of us looking innocent, with the bottom looking insane. Again, this was used to garner people's attention and to make the campaign more real by including the two people responsible for this portion as the centerpiece. The words that are in this meme "What is mental? Well...." is to allow others to think a bit more on what the word really means to them, while at the same time poking fun at ourselves.
The video was created by myself, with all video clips supplied by both of us. At the beginning of the video, we thanked our supporters in a way that it resembles a 'boring commercial' - and also pokes fun at how some campaigns, political ones to be exact, follow this same monotone speech as well as music which is not suited to everybody. As this video goes on, there are two scenes of myself over-talking which annoys somebody to the point where they up and leave; followed by Izzy and her "inability" to balance on one foot. These are followed by the hashtags #SocialFailure and #PhysicallyInept. Both scenes were not to shade the other tribes, but it poked fun at how we did not end up in the other tribes - simply because of our "skill set". Though this does not represent the entire tribe and their capabilities, this is to put emphasis on why we are in the Mental Tribe. It then cuts to scenes of us going absolutely crazy, with Rihanna's Disturbia in the background to fit in with the theme. You are then seen going back to the feel of the beginning, with myself stating to support the Karak tribe. To conclude, you would then see Izzy saying "Vote for us..." with "Or else..." done in slow motion and in black and white, followed by a slowed clip of myself laughing. The final part states "Follow us, Or else..."
In conclusion, we followed the brief of creating a theme, making sure it reached enough people for our tribe page to be noticed, and coming up with a unique approach. We hope you enjoy our social portion for the Karak tribe, and the links to the Facebook and Twitter pages will be posted below this spiel, while the media we produced will be posted in a Reply.
